What is art?
Art is boundless and embraces the diversity of human creativity.
What does the concept of art actually cover? Art is a visual representation; a narrative, an emotion and an invisible bridge between creator and viewer. The definition of art extends beyond technique and materials. It is a journey into the mind, inviting thoughts, attitudes and experiences through the work.
The definition of art
Defining art in a single way is a challenge because it is so diverse. Art can manifest itself in many art forms such as visual art, sculpture, music, dance and literature. It reflects observations from life, society, nature and the mind to create something that reaches out to the viewer.
What is good art?
Good art has an authentic voice, an identity and the ability to reach out and touch the viewer. Art is carried by technical skill, emotional resonance and depth of message, and is subjective and varies from person to person.
Good art enriches our lives by challenging our perspectives, touching our emotions and engaging our minds, moving beyond aesthetics.
Why is art important?
It enriches our senses, inspires our creativity and carries our history through the ages. Art has the ability to influence, mirror and reflect our society.
When is something art? It’s a question that is constantly evolving and changing. The definition of art is largely determined by the individual, changing and challenging with the diversity of experience.

Today, we are introducing you to the artist Katsuko Ono (JP) from our Mini Maxi Print 2023/2024 exhibition.

Katsuko Ono’s playful etchings portray animals engaging in human activities, resembling pages of a children’s book. Her works offer entrancing glimpses into a world of myth and fairy tales, radiating an inherent light-heartedness. Ono's delicate use of colour enhances the charm of her pieces, capturing the essence of innocence and imagination. Her detailed yet simple compositions invite the viewer into the boundless world of youthful imagination, where dreams take flight, and the gentle colours breathe life into stories that resonate with both adults and children.

Today, we are introducing you to the artist Marco Poma (IT) from our Mini Maxi Print 2023/2024 exhibition.

In addition to etched lines, Poma uses aquatint to create shadows and three-dimensional effects. The wilderness of the individual lines offers a contrast to the overpowering whole of the composition. This results in appealingly urban structures that convey a sense of grandeur and majesty, placing the viewer in a vulnerable position.

Gennem sine skulpturer inviterer den spanske kunstner Joan Priego os til at reflektere over vores egen selvopdagelsesrejse og de mange veje, vi tager i vores søgen efter et formål. Træets regenerative egenskaber er stærkt knyttet til livscyklussen og visualiseres gennem disse figurative værker. Hans skulpturers unikke form og materialitet giver en taktil og visceral oplevelse, der giver genlyd af organisk menneskelig forandring.

Luke Crouchs værk "Dad and Client at Karaoke, Early Nineties" opfordrer beskueren til at genopleve et øjeblik mellem kolleger. Billedet bliver genkendeligt og danner en fælles oplevelse mellem beskueren og motivet. Opmærksomheden på detaljerne i de skjorter, mændene har på, den falmede baggrund fyldt med flasker og den nøjagtige konfiguration af positurerne gør det muligt for beskueren at føle sig helt opslugt af billedet.
