Carina Jo Sivager (DK)
Carina Jo Sivager was born in 1968 and lives in Denmark. She has previously studied art photography at Denmark’s School of Design and has worked with experimental photography for 20 years.
Photographs may be perceived as an exact representation of reality, which Carina Jo Sivager questions in her works. By thematically working with the layers in ones perception of reality, she avoids one definite interpretation. Instead, her work invites the viewer to elicit his or her own memories. Since everyone has different realities, the experience of viewing one of these pictures will never be the same for two people. All of Sivager’s pictures are digitally processed, which ads both an extra dimension and picturesque quality to the works and removes all sorts of documentation. She experiments during the process of creating her work and thereby finds new fascinating and inspiring ways to express herself. The digital process has made it possible for Carina Jo Sivager to highlight and tone down certain elements in order to create the layers that are characteristic for her work. Carina Jo Sivager has become a representative for a new exciting tendency within the area of Danish contemporary photography, which involves the digitization in an artistic process.
