Tomas Pariente Dutor is a Spanish artist who combines aquatint and drypoint with colored pencils in colorful compositions of strict parallel lines. His attention to color, form, and placement creates vibrant compositions in abstract images.

The vibrant lines in countless shades combine to form a collection of intertwining, changing color combinations. He constantly works with the entire color wheel, but tends to focus on a specific selection for each print. Although the prints are smaller in size, this visual interplay captivates the viewer.

Like a straight rainbow, the simple abstraction and use of lines opens up for associations in infinite perspectives. Like colorful strands of yarn or vertical stacks of colored paper, it is difficult to define an exact end to the color transitions. The alternation between warm and cool colors is reminiscent of an imaginary barcode for sunlight, reflecting the different times of day or seasons. The countless possible interpretations reveal the poetic and playful quality of these abstract images.
