His wooden sculptures suggest a colorful bouquet of flowers filled with a myriad of vibrant elements. Objects reminiscent of a still life have been transformed into playful and imaginative forms and become a commentary on modern life.

The sculptures are made of wood and carefully moulded into flower shapes, leaves and stems. The coloured lacquer coating gives the work a fresh summer look. Placed in a vase, they form an eye-catching and whimsical bouquet. It is also remarkable that the different shapes merge into one another, as if they are integrating symbols and are therefore parts of a whole.

The composition invites the viewer to examine the structures and interesting shapes depicted and the relationships between them. Theiler’s artworks can be understood as a reinterpretation of the natural world, characterised by a transformation of the conventional still life into a fantastical landscape. The use of seemingly out-of-place forms can be seen as a contemporary commentary on modern life and the extent to which our surroundings are characterised by it and thus become representative of today’s society.

The sculptures appear to be a celebration of visual pleasure and somehow absurdity, whilst implicitly challenging the viewer to question the concepts of nature and the construction of beauty in contemporary art.
