Magdalena Magrét (IS)

Magdalena Margrét Kjartansdóttir (1944) from Iceland is educated in printmaking at Listahákóli Íslands, Iceland Academy of Arts. She has taken part in several solo- and group exhibitions in various places, such as Beijing, New York, Copenhagen, Paris and Tokyo. Kjartansdóttir finds inspiration in the surrounding world, by seeing, listening and catching a glimpse from every day life. She explores themes as childhood, maternity, mentality, and sexuality out from her admiration in the female body. The materials applied in her work vary between clothing, stones, wood, coffee filters and linoleum.
