Ferch’s oil paintings show faceless figures in an often unsettling environment and are characterised by ambiguity. Strong contrasts in dark scenes are emphasised by textured brushstrokes.

By applying the oil and acrylic paint in thick layers, the artist creates visible structures with visual depth and momentum in the depicted scenes and emphasises the predominantly dark settings with bold colours. The composition shows anonymous groups of people in dynamic yet familiar-appearing scenes.

The chosen motifs appear well-known and recognisable. The poignant visual aesthetic seduces the viewer and invites reflection, overshadowed by darkness and a palpable sense of unease. The works also allow for a political interpretation of the implied scenarios and thus create a possible reference to current events. The faceless figures convey a social sense of belonging, of coming together, regardless of factors such as location, origin, culture or religion.
