Huang’s carborundum prints radiate a sense of boundless, universal space, brought to life through bold, vivid backgrounds. The foreground is layered with intricate lines and patterns that resemble galaxies and constellations, evoking a sense of awe and cosmic wonder.
Her work is a burst of colour, where vibrant tones swirl together to form an abstract mosaic, much like a distant view of the universe through a telescope. Amid this burst of colour, clear geometric shapes like lines, circles, and dots appear, carefully arranged to suggest the precise calculations of a scientist mapping the orbits of planets. These sharp, white geometric forms stand in stark contrast to the chaotic background, providing a structural backbone that has an anchoring effect on the swirling abstract forms. However, Huang breaks from this sense of rigidity by also incorporating unpredictable, organic shapes and lines that bleed into the paper.
These irregular forms, often vibrant and uncontrolled, add a layer of spontaneity, reflecting the untamed, unpredictable nature of the universe.
