Ricardo Pinto (MX)

Ricardo Pinto (MX)

Mexican artist Ricardo Pinto works with various graphic techniques, including etchings and laser-cut wood. The often warm, fiery colors complement the clear, defined lines in his abstract works. His tactile backgrounds are often characterized by fascinating patterns and overlapping layers that give the often geometric shapes room to move.

Pinto’s works have an architectural quality with clear perspectives and precise lines rendered in monochromatic color palettes. Fascinating patterns of labyrinthine spaces and abstract surfaces unfold in an infinite expanse, allowing the viewer to find their own way.

In his combined prints, the interplay and overlapping of the various elements give the images the appearance of abstract collages. Sharp lines and precise shapes dominate the picture plane, while fragments of words and letters and dissolving forms expand the visual narrative. The attention to color, form, and structure also allows the viewer to simply enjoy the visual experience of the print and disregard its narrative.
