Lenka Vilhelmová (CZ)
Text written by GHA
Vilhelmová’s works invite the viewer to a border area between clarity and an ever-evolving ambiguity. Her black and white etchings, often combined with multiple techniques, show overlapping textures with enigmatic abstract forms against luminous backgrounds.
The viewer is invited to decipher the layers of her compositions, much like an archaeologist uncovering layers of a forgotten past. Each print invites careful exploration, uncovering and interpreting the detailed textures step by step.
The black textures contrasting from dense, imperfect networks of lines to bold, single strokes combine with faded traces of letters and weave together with white voids. These thoughtfully arranged elements show a determination that arouses curiosity.
The intricate grids, the inkblot-like stains and the seemingly random stripes force the viewer to decipher their meanings and relationships to one another, much like detectives unravelling the clues to an important document that has faded through time and nature.
Vilhelmová’s prints invite the viewer to take on the role of an explorer. Each layer conquered is part of a larger narrative that arouses curiosity to further explore the multi-layered composition.
