Hanna Rozpara (PL)
Text written by GHA
Hanna Rozpara creates hypnotic woodcuts in large formats that pay homage to movement itself in vivid colours with abstract shades and shapes.
The overlapping layers create surfaces that seem to be in constant motion. Different textures intertwine to create almost three-dimensional, lively swirls that run through the pictures. The abstract compositions constantly rearrange themselves and pulsate in interactions of shapes and colours that seem to lie outside of time and space. The viewer embarks on a mental journey through Rozpara’s impressive compositions and is led through layers of colour, shades and figures reminiscent of psychedelic visions or underwater formations.
Gradually, however, a hypnotic rhythm and calmness sets in, allowing associations to develop and thoughts to wander in a continuous exploration of the abstract yet rich motifs. Interaction with the works thus becomes an almost musical process of exploring driving structures that constantly change and develop as fugal variations. The viewer is invited to participate in the composition and structuring of the powerful impressions emanating from the prints.
