Maria Heed (SE)
Examining the etchings, one might find a unique combination of objects, people and an almost tangible underlying story. Shapes reminiscent of nature and symbols associated with our ancestors, such as drums or prehistoric-painting-like drawings, seem to encourage the viewer to create new interpretations based on their collective consciousness.
For Heed, intuition is a key element of her working method, which is reflected in her compositions’ playful nature and the choice of her subjects. She seems to focus on her figures, highlighting them against a reduced background.
Her use of colours creates a feeling of simplicity, driving the viewers’ attention to the main aspect of her interest: to communicate the fragile and delicate aspects of life and our world.
