The two-dimensional textile assemblages show an interplay between symmetry and space. The circular monochrome compositions have a sense of controlled chaos with dark wires that appear to deliberately tangle and overflow from the dense centre. The visual tension invites further exploration.

The use of black yarn creates a tactile presence. Each stitch represents tension, puncture and rhythm. The clarity of the background introduces an additional layer of complexity, allowing the viewer to recognise both the surface and the underlying structure, revealing the duality between what is visible and what is felt. These compositions draw the viewer’s gaze to a dense central core before releasing it into a surrounding field of loose, almost chaotic threads.

Balancing between delimitation and expansion reflects the natural system of networks, root structures or maps. The circular form is not characterised by rigidity and geometry. Grubner’s works linger in the space between control and collapse, between systems and their inevitable fragility and are full of energy, even when they become knotted and tug at their own structure. They invite the exploration of beauty through complexity, repetition and the quiet resilience of materials.
