Roman Haideichuk (UA)
Roman Haideichuk’s art is driven by his architectural approach. The artist creates highly contrasted and captivating map-like prints of urban landscapes.
His work is often a combination of a geological map and city views from different periods of time. The artist enriches his aquatints with both historical and aesthetic content. The viewer gets an impression of a layered composition seeing from above, creating abstract motifs.
His prints do not convey the exact features of maps, showing no detailed streets or clear image of the houses, but the general outlines, creating a geometric environment. Simultaneously, black and white tones give a feeling of dimension and depth, highlighting even more the urban landscape.

The lines get more blurry when looking closer, and the surprisingly shattered letters spread around the prints. Experimenting with his architectural approach, Haideichuk welcomes the viewer to discover the area presented and reflect on one‘s personal attachments to different places.
