Sebastian Laszczyk (PL)
In his monochromatic etchings, Polish artist Sebastian Laszczyk investigates several themes through space analysis and invites the viewer to immerse themselves in his dynamic sceneries.
In other series, the artist creates minimalistic abstract compositions in which geometric objects such as a circle, a prism, or a rectangle, break on a ‘’flowing surface’’. The viewer visually perceives the power of the impact but cannot hear the sound, there is no noise, it exists only in the mind. From this impact, circular lines are born and expand on the picture’s surface, increasing their circumference as if they were sound waves. In this proliferating imagery, geometric shapes appear to take the place of stars, galaxies and planets moving in a stylized universe.
In Laszczyk’s work the three-dimensional perspective has a crucial role. The compositions are perceived as a consideration of life, death, and the origin of the cosmos investigated through geometric criteria. With dizzying verticality and seemingly-infinite progress of lines, the artist creates mesmerising movements that quickly capture the observer’s attention.
