Zevallos Tazza (FR)
Text written by GHA
Zevallos Tazza combines various printing techniques and materials to create abstract collage-like prints in small formats, whose intensely coloured surfaces are reminiscent of biological structures and patterns.
The French artist uses the colographic technique as well as drypoint and chine collé to create dynamic compositions where diffuse forms in bold colours combine, intersect and overlap. The flat perspectives of the pictures give the impression that processes and forms are taking place simultaneously, despite moving in different, seemingly random directions. This feeling that all structures in the prints are somehow connected and on equal footing gives an impression of interdependency and continuous growth. The seemingly close perspectives almost give the sensation of looking through a microscope in which objects are piled up in small stacks.
It is as if the structures develop and interact organically and are reminiscent of biological substances such as bacteria, flowers or even larger environments such as swamps or bogs. The scenes thus play out as curious explorations of the often unperceived small worlds, logics and rules of life, where colour and form collide in a universe teeming with movement. It is up to the viewer to explore this infinite world of abstract forms that mimic the immense and bewildering growth of natural processes.
